Books or No Books

So I stumbled upon this today, which should be of great interest to any writer or editor or bookworm types.

I guess there has been much hue and cry and flamewars and hollering on the blogosphere, but I’m oblivious until weeks later. Typical. But I thought this analysis of the book chains was veeeery interesting in a grim, cold-eyed, nuts-and-bolts kind of way.

It's always crazy to see the business side of publishing. It all comes down to what will make money and what won't.

Hey, Bob, wasn't that an interesting article? As a writer, it kind of scared the pants of me, and yet this sort of thing is simply the nature of the business. No use sticking your head in the sand. You gotta know it if you want to play. That's my five cents.

I agree with you. It's better to know what you're up against, provided you don't let it intimidate you too much.

I honestly can't imagine MIND PLAGUE or COLONY HIGH being skipped over by the big boys.

Well, let's not get cocky. That's the whole point. ;)

Yes, my stuff is way more mainstream than the books cited in the analysis, and, yes, my numbers are much better, but it sounds like Borders is tightening their inventory is terrible ways and all it takes is one stumble to no longer look so good to our computer overlords. Scary stuff!!!!
