Here is your intrepid reporter Ned Ryerson preparing DNA for sequencing with Bridget Swift at the Joint Genome Institute in northern California.Hmmm. Whatever could Ned be doing with this information?

Ha. I know, I know, it looks like I'm holding one of those little sticks for a pregnancy test, right!? No, seriously, it's a "pipette" -- real life DNA gear -- and we're sitting and standing at Bridget's work station where she really was preparing DNA for sequencing before this writer guy and his guide came blundering through with a camera and endless questions... ;)
They were very good to me at JGI and I left with pounds upon pounds of research material. Whooop!
